Heroic & Hopeful

Published February 12, 2012

The DuPage Symphony Orchestra's February, 2012 subscription concert opens with John Williams' Liberty Fanfare, a piece written in 1986 to celebrate the centennial of the Statue of Liberty on July 4 of that year. Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 in E minor Op. 95 "From the New World" provides a rich, familiar centerpiece, while Peter Boyer's dramatic Ellis Island: The Dream of America tells the tale of seven immigrants who came to the United States through Ellis Island in hopes of a better life in the new world.

Presented by members of the North Central College Department of Theater, Barbara Schubert and the DuPage Symphony Orchestra at Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville, Illinois. 12 February 2012.
